Photo of La Lonja, the social club in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where Blessed Concepción Cabrera de Armida, foundress of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, would attend social events. In her youth she would go to the theater, dances, and familial and social events. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing and horseback riding. “Since I was thirteen years old, as was the custom, I began going to dances: that was the custom for the society in San Luis Potosi.” -Concepción Cabrera de Armida

What is the purpose of this event?

The main purpose of this event is to raise funds for the formation of future priests. As you already know, life is not cheap and everything costs money. Like any family, we have ordinary expenses that we have to pay such as food, electricity, water, telephone, health insurance, and car insurance. But we also have a very significant regular expense, which is the tuition of the brothers so that they can attend classes in the seminary. Studies cost about $25,000 per brother, each year. We currently have 6 brothers in our Province who are studying, and therefore our yearly tuition expenses are around $132,000. Although our formation directors work very hard to support the community, their income is not enough to cover all the expenses. That’s why we depend on the generosity of our friends and benefactors, and the funds we raise at events like this.
Thank you for your generosity!
